Dr. Monte L. Carlson
Dr. Monte L. Carlson was born and grew up in Richmond, Utah, the son of Victor LaMarr and Donna Phillips Carlson. He is the third of four boys.
Dr. Carlson’s passion is his family. He and his wife, Denise, have five children. The oldest was born in 1979 and the youngest in 2000. As of January 2020 they have 11 grandchildren.
Dr. Carlson’s favorite hobbies are travel, time with family, watching movies with Denise, exercise (running, biking, and strength training), and getting into the mountains.
Dr. Carlson graduated from Sky View High School in 1973, served an L.D.S. mission in Ohio and West Virginia, and graduated from Utah State University in 1980. His doctoral education was completed at The University of Washington in Seattle.
Following Dental School Dr. Carlson spent 5 years in the United States Air Force, stationed at McChord Air Force Base and Mountain Home Air Force Base. At both bases Dr. Carlson was the Flight Dental Officer in charge of the dental care of pilots, nuclear personnel, and commanding officers. During his military experience he earned a commendation medal and set the record for the 1 and ½ mile sprint for the McChord Medical Corp.
In 1989 Dr. Carlson moved to Richmond, purchasing the practice of Dr. Edward G. Merrill, who had practiced dentistry in Richmond for over 40 years. In 1997 the current office of Cherry Creek Dental was completed.
In June of 2008 Dr. Brandon Priebe, Dr. Carlson’s son-in-law, graduated from The University of Washington Dental School and joined Dr. Carlson at Cherry Creek Dental. Later, in September of 2018, Dr. Curtis Taylor joined the team.
